What happens in class?
Newborn & Postpartum Care is a 6 hour course that covers: Swaddling, diapering, soothing, breast and bottle feeding, SIDS safety, basic CPR, identifying postpartum depression, mother care and more.
This class is for all caregivers and expectant parents.
Online Classes include the same info as the 6 hour course at your own pace, from the comfort of your home.
Parent Classes are usually about 2 hours and happen in your home before baby arrives. You can have as many people attend as you wish.
What kind of job can I get as a Newborn Care Provider (NCP)?
Your expertise in babies allows you to work at any of the following:
home health care agency
a private duty newborn caregiver
How is this different from "Newborn Care Specialist" or "Postpartum Doula" classes I've seen?
The Newborn Care Certificate program is a stacked credential for Certified Nursing Assistants. This means that students successfully completing this program are licensed by the State of Virginia. This is the only newborn care license of its kind and caregivers are accountable to the Board of Nursing.
Can I just take a class at my local hospital or birthing center?
These classes are free for expectant parents intending to give birth at that facility so if you are an expecting parent- yes! The classes are not typically open to caregivers though.
Will you teach in my home, or for my agency?
Yes! We do Baby Care Class for families and Nanny Agencies. Families can have as many people attend as they wish. Contact us if you or your company is interested!
